NPORS Excavator Micro (up to 1T) Course Duration

Novice Operator: 10 days training, maximum 3 candidates.

Or

5 days training 1:1

Refresher Training: 1 Day, maximum 3 candidates.

Experienced Worker Test: 1 day test only, maximum 4 candidates.

Location: Our Instructors can deliver training across London and the South-East.

Certification

NPORS Traditional card – valid for 5 years.

 

OR

NPORS card with CSCS logo – accepted by all leading contractor’s. The initial card is the RED trained operator card which lasts for 2 years and can be upgraded to BLUE competent operator card further to completion of relevant NVQ.

CSCS Health & Safety Test

If you require the NPORS Excavator Micro (up to 1T) operator card with the CSCS logo on then you must have completed the operatives health and safety test within the last two years.

In house certificates: suitable as proof of operator competence accepted for insurance and HSE compliance.

NPORS Excavator Micro (Up to 1T) Course

This course is aimed at candidates who require a formal qualification for operating an Excavator Micro (up to 1T).

NPORS is an approved CSCS Partner Card Scheme, providing evidence that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for safe movement of construction machinery. Furthermore, training criteria is based on the approved standards of the Construction Leadership Council.

Entry Requirements

We offer Novice or Experienced Worker training and assessment. EWT Test are for operators who have received some form of training in the past or alternatively have been operating an Excavator Micro (up to 1T) for some time. If you are unsure if you qualify to go down the test route please contact us to discuss this in more detail.

Candidates that require the 'HS&E TESTED Logo' displayed on their card they must have passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years.

There are two parts to the Excavator Micro (up to 1T) test, a theory section comprised of 25 questions and a practical session, therefore a good understanding of spoken and written English is required.

NPORS Excavator Micro (up to 1T) Course Content

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator

  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook for the particular machine to be used

  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions

  • Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions

  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for micro excavator use

  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer's and legislative requirements

  • Safely mount and dismount the machine

  • Start and stop the engine and safely move the machine off and stop it safely

  • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely across varying terrain in open and confined areas

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area

  • Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out excavating tasks

  • Carry out excavating tasks

  • Load material onto transporting vehicles or into containers

  • Reinstate excavation, grade and level ground

  • Fit and remove attachments

  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
